Heroic Waste Management → Made Easy
Resident information: what goes where, and who to call
What to do with trash, recycling, organics and bulky items at your apartment community, who Green Glove Heroes is, and where to find the sorting rules your city enforces.

What our crew does at your community
Your city or county sets the recycling and organics rules that apartment residents follow, and your property has to go by them too. Those rules differ across Northern California. Green Glove Heroes manages waste at your community six days a week, which means we sort the containers and keep the enclosure clean while working with your property manager. On this page you'll find what our crew is doing and where to look up your area's rules, along with what to do with a couch.
Why the green bin depends on where you live
What goes in organics, recycling, and trash is set by your city or county and its hauler, so the answer depends on where you live, and those rules change. Your property posts the city's signage at the enclosure. When you're not sure, go with what the enclosure signs say.

Who we are and what the crew is doing
We're Green Glove Heroes, and our uniformed crew is at your community Sunday through Friday. They sort the trash, recycling, and organics in the containers and move containers for pickup. They also keep the trash rooms and the enclosure clean and remove any bulky items your property has scheduled. The garbage company is your city's hauler, and it still does the collecting. We also don't pick up trash at your door.
I have a couch, mattress, or appliance
Tell your property manager. The property handles removal of bulky items, so you'd go through them instead of contacting us directly. Please don't leave anything by the enclosure, because it attracts more dumping and it can cost your community a fee.
Things that never go in the bins
Oil, paint, light bulbs, batteries, and other liquids or chemicals don't belong in any container at your community, and our crews don't handle them. Your county's page above lists the drop-off program for oil, paint, and chemicals. If you have old TVs, monitors, or other electronics, ask your property manager, since e-waste is collected through the property.
Why sorting correctly matters to you
The hauler's trucks have cameras now, so a bag of trash in the recycling gets photographed and the property gets a fee. If enough of those pile up, it costs your community money, and people start talking about the building, so getting the sort right is the cheapest way to look after your own community.
Resident training and events
Your property may host a session with the zero-waste coordinator from your city or hauler. We help set it up, and we'll be there to answer questions about what the crew does. Ask your property manager when the next one is happening.
Something's wrong at the enclosure
If a bin is overflowing or a pickup got missed, or you notice a smell or a dumped item, tell your property manager or leasing office. They'll contact us, and we're usually there the same day.
