Recycling we manage every day

Green Glove Heroes manages recycling at multifamily properties across Northern California. We provide correctly sized and placed containers and sort recyclables by hand every day, and we remove contaminants before collection and document the results. Your hauler provides the recycling service, and we make it work on the ground six days a week, so the load is clean when the truck comes and the property gets credit for it.

What managed recycling means

Your hauler drops off blue containers, and that's the recycling service they provide. We manage it, which means somebody is at the enclosure every day making sure what's in those containers is recyclable and that they sit where residents will use them. They also pull the one bag of trash that would contaminate the load before the truck comes.

What managing recycling looks like day to day

Sunday through Friday, our porters check the containers and sort them by hand, pulling contaminants and moving them to the right stream. They break down cardboard and stage any overflow. Labels and signage stay current to your city's rules, and we photograph all of it.

One bad container costs the whole load

A single plastic bag in a recycling bin can trigger a contamination fee. It's worse if a contaminated load gets rejected and landfilled, since your diversion rate takes the hit. Our daily hand sorting catches that bag before the truck does.

Documentation you can use

You can request contamination and diversion records from us for your hauler, your city, your owner, or an ESG report.

Recycling and organics together

SB 1383 is focused on the organics stream, and we manage all three streams on every visit. Waste Stream Separation

What California requires

Under AB 341, California has required multifamily properties with five or more units to arrange recycling service since July 1, 2012. SB 1383 added organics, and with it came the container, labeling, and resident education rules your city enforces. State law also lets a property owner require tenants to separate their recyclables.
