Multifamily waste management in Santa Cruz County
Porter service, hauler bill audits, and SB 1383 compliance for multifamily communities in Santa Cruz County, from apartments to affordable housing.

How we work in Santa Cruz County
Green Glove Heroes runs the waste operation at multifamily communities across Santa Cruz County, from apartments to affordable housing. You keep your hauler for collection. Our full-time crews come on-site Sunday through Friday to sort trash, recycling, and organics, and we audit your hauler bill and keep the property in line with the rules your city or the county enforces.
What Santa Cruz County asks of your property
Outside the four cities, the county's Universal Service Ordinance has applied since January 1, 2022. It's County Code Chapter 7.20, and it's how the county carries out SB 1383. Every property in the unincorporated area needs garbage, recycling, and organics service, and GreenWaste Recovery is the county's exclusive franchise hauler there. Owners who don't subscribe or register as self-haulers can be fined.
Capitola, Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, and Watsonville each run their own programs. The SB 1383 basics hold everywhere: organics service, containers in the right colors with the right labels, and sorting information for tenants when they move in and again once a year.
How we keep you there
We train each porter on the Zero Waste requirements of the jurisdiction they work in. They sort all three streams at your property six days a week before the truck arrives, and every visit gets photographed and dated. If the county or your city raises something about the property, we handle it, and we fix what the zero-waste staff find on-site.
