An apartment community in Santa Clara County

How we work in Santa Clara County

Green Glove Heroes runs the waste operation at multifamily communities across Santa Clara County in the South Bay, from apartments to affordable housing. Your hauler still handles collection, while our full-time crews come on-site Sunday through Friday and sort trash, recycling, and organics. Meanwhile we audit your hauler bill and keep your property in line with the rules Santa Clara County enforces.

What Santa Clara County asks of your property

There's no countywide program in Santa Clara County. Each city runs its own, and the county only handles the unincorporated areas, where starting July 1, 2026, it automatically enrolls and bills multifamily complexes of 5 or more units that don't have trash, recycling, and organics service.

City rules differ more here than anywhere else we work, and our porters work to the rules of the city they're in. In San José, apartment garbage goes in the green dumpster and organics get sorted out at a recovery facility, which is the reverse of the state color scheme, so generic three-bin signs would be wrong there.

How we keep you there

Six days a week, our porters are on your property sorting all three streams before the truck arrives, and each one is trained on the Zero Waste requirements of the jurisdiction they work in. We photograph and date every visit. If the city or county has something to say about your property, we're there to address it, and your hauler's or the county's zero-waste expert files the SB 1383 report while we fix what they find on-site.

It depends on the city, because each Santa Clara County city runs its own program and the county covers only unincorporated areas. In San José, apartment garbage goes in the green dumpster and organics are sorted at a recovery facility, so your signage has to match the city.

Your hauler's or the county's zero-waste expert handles that. We work with them directly and correct any issues on the property.

No. Your current hauler keeps collecting, and we run the operation on-site and deal with the hauler for you.
